Timothy Christen Named Chairman of Baker Tilly International

Timothy L. Christen has been named the chairman of the board of directors for Baker Tilly International, one of the largest accountancy and advisory networks in the world.

“Tim has been a consistently indispensable contributor to our board of directors,” Ted Verkade, CEO and president of Baker Tilly International, said. “He is a widely respected and highly regarded leader in our profession. We look forward to his ongoing guidance and influence on our network as its new chairman.”

Christen was elected chairman by Baker Tilly International’s board of directors at the network’s Americas Conference in Cancun in June 2017. He begins his first four-year term today during the network’s World Conference in Amsterdam.

Christen takes over from Jim Castellano who served as Baker Tilly International’s chairman for 15 years. “I would like to thank Jim for his great leadership and guidance as chairman. He will continue to be an important asset to our network and I wish him the best on this new stage of his professional life”, Verkade said.

Christen is chairman emeritus of Baker Tilly International member network firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, which he led as its CEO for 17 years. He currently serves as the immediate past chairman of the board of the American Institute of CPAs, an organization with more than 418,000 members and serves on the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC). He has been named by Accounting Today as one of the 100 most influential people in accounting in the United States.
